An updated schedule…

January 25, 2012

Hi there! I don’t know if you recall, but I recently made a choice to switch back into health food and work out mode.  And I have to say, it is going so well!  I’m down in weight, feeling energized and loving my new routine.  Not only does my body feel good, but I have a mental wellness too.  Work is easier, I can get up earlier and I don’t feel as pressured – especially when jumping into skinny jeans :)

Here is a typical day for me:

In the morning, I do my normal get ready routine and flush out my system with a large glass of ice water and two chewable adult vitamins.  Then I prepare an egg white omelet filled with some mild salsa and topped with a dollop of FF sour cream and sriracha.  While eating I read.  I just finished Kelly Cutrone’s book “If You Have To Cry Go Outside”.  I suggest this to anyone who has considered fashion as a career, enjoys a good laugh, wants to be motivated or just is looking to understand what it is to be in PR.  Such a great book.  After that I head to work.  While at work I eat my mid day snack (always greek yogurt and grapes) and my lunch which is generally a salad, lots of veggies, some type of protein and a piece of whole fruit.  I had a Pear for the first time in a while today and it was DELICIOUS!

Then, I work work work until its time to head home.  Once at home I prep dinner (more lean protein and veggies), handle any nightly chores, stitched & wired madness or blog posts, and either settle in for the evening or head to the gym.  When its gym night I’m there from 8 to 9 for a run until I can’t feel my legs and then I hobble home.  My mother actually called me yesterday while I was walking up the stairs after running and she thought I was going to pass out.  But my mind was alert so I felt fine!

After the gym or in the evening, I treat myself to a Kefir smoothie.  1 cup non sweetened Kefir, 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 1 packet Truvia and a teaspoon of agave nectar.  Just blend and pour over ice.  The perfect treat after a long day.

Friday will be my 17th day on this plan.  And since it’s the 17 Day Diet, I get to progress to the next stage which involves additional starches like oatmeal and sweet potatoes!

It is amazing what the body is capable of when you feed it properly and I think that is what I like most about this plan. It’s not a diet, it’s not a fad, it’s a way of life.  Food is fuel.  I’m just re-learning the process and holding myself accountable for my actions.

With this new found energy (not to mention extra money being saved from eliminated bar tabs and dinner tabs) I’ve been reorganizing the living room and planning a little remodel for the kitchen nook.  Organization is key right now, so I’m going to build shelving, gather some labeled totes and organize all of my jewelry and craft supplies so things are easily accessible.  I’m also looking for a sleek table/desk that has a minimal footprint.  I constantly come back to this one from For Me For You.  What are your thoughts??

Be back soon with a post on my Pierogi making adventures AND a recent addition to my bookshelf :)
